how to produce hydrogen peroxide from its elemnets?

Currently H2O2 is produced by the chemical equivalent of Rube Goldberg machines.
An organic chemical [anthraquinone as I recall] is peroxidized with air, then the peroxide group is hydrogenated away. How they keep the peroxide group from being turned to water by the H2 is a mystery to me.
I did support some work on making it directly from H2 and O2, but the chemist's nickname was Boom-Boom, which should tell you something.
