how to get off the tar from door and garage door?

kid was playing with tar paint on the garage door and door. i dont know how to get it off. please help. that house already sold but i need it off before people move in it. Thanks!

Yes, WD40 will take off most stuff. Just to be sure test on a a small area inside the door to make sure anything you use will not harm the paint.

Petroleum based solvents should work. Try paint thinner, diesel fuel, kerosene or stoddard solvent. You can also try OOPS. Find it in the paint section of any hardware store.
