    I usually do 8-10 minutes.

I should add that you have to put the eggs in the water and THEN bring it to a boil. This might seem like common sense but I know people who have dropped eggs into boiling water and wondered why their eggs were exploding. So. Yeah.

Here's the best method -- got it from watching Rachel Ray on Food Network:

Put eggs in pan, cover them with cold water.

    Put on stove, uncovered.

As soon as it comes to a FULL boil, put the lid on,and remove from heat.

    Let stand 20 minutes.

Boiling them too long makes the whites rubbery.

the water should be at a very low boil (barely moving water) for 13 minutes. I put mine in a steamer basket over boiling water for 13 minutes. This works perfectly. They are called "steamed eggs" when done this way. I got this tip from Alton Brown's book - and it works perfectly every time.

I put the eggs in the pot then put water on them, turn the eye on right under high. Let the water come to a boil and boil for 5 min. Turn the eye off and let the eggs sit in the hot water about 5 more min.

7 minutes or more to hard boil.

Don't put a cold egg into boiling water, it will crack.

We do 15 minutes from the time of boil at work. I do the same thing at home, they always turn out fine.
