England is one of the nice parts of the world to live in. OK, it doesn’t have the Australian beaches or California sunshine, but the worst natural disaster happens here was flood, and it’s nothing if you compare it Asian tsunami or American hurricane or Japan earthquake. It’s not as cold as NY or Chicago on winter (the cold wind hurt your skin so much on the bad day!) and not as hot as Singapore or Dubai (you can’t live without air conditioning = very expensive electricity bills)
In general, it is safer than most part of the world, gun is not allowed here. I know that you’ve heard some scary news already, then again it’s nothing if you compare it to most of developing countries (been there done that, where people life is nothing, simple example: have you watched slumdog millionaire?) or if you compare it to the US, where most people can walking around with gun, and you can see live chase everyday on the news!
The education system is relatively good and free. NHS is free (in most part of the world, you can NOT get this!) and I would say everything is more organised here and you can get of the both world here, I mean London famous for its culture, great museum, arts, and is one of the biggest city in the world. It is so diverse and you can’t get this anywhere else. and you still can get nice living in the countryside, where beautiful landmark and history from hundreds years ago still exist.
If you work in England, you get so many benefits that you don’t get anywhere else, your holiday entitlement at least 20 days (normal is 25 days) where in States and most part of the world you usually get 10-12 days.
Ok TV is sucks, but you still can get American shows with much less advertisement.
About the government, there’s nowhere in this world have 100% satisfying government, that’s just how they way it is. We’re lucky that we still have a voice to say, have you ever read about North Korea?
My final say is the grass always greener on the other side. I’m not saying England is definitely the best, but definitely one of the nicest. You have my word on it
I lived in NY, Singapore, and London.
I’ve to most of the parts of the world (Australia, 2 months in SF, most of Asia, etc etc..)
