What is behind Obama's sudden interest to investigate everything the Bush administration did?

There's more talk of opening investigations on the alleged "torture" that took place in Gitmo. There's talk of the "secret" CIA plan that needs to be investigated to see if the Bush administration broke the laws. Now, he wants his national security team to investigate the killing of 2000 Taliban by an Afghan warlord that took place in November 2001! Is this an effort to cover up his falling approval ratings, unemployment rate going up, economy still in the tank, etc?

Update:

Didn't he say a couple months ago there would be no investigations into the so called Gitmo torture scandal?

A 2001 killing of Taliban by an Afghan warlord?? teying to blame that on Bush? Please.

Because a lot of his supporters voted for him because they loathed bush. So when ever he needs to draw attention away from himself, he starts blaming someone else.

Get used to it. He will be blaming bush right up until the last day in office.

Notice, there is no more talk about the economy. Now they are talking about how the prior admin may have killed an enemy illegally. *RED LIGHTS* Distraction people distraction. To keep playing the game, hit the start button.

If serious evidence surfaces implicating members of the Bush Administration in anything illegal, no matter what the case, the Justice Department will investigate and if the evidence is strong enough, they will prosecute. That is their job. I don't think the Obama Administration should go on a witch hunt, though, and I don't think they will. As for Clean Truck, who said "Trying to deflect attention away from ALL the corrupt Democratic politicians again are you?" There are corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle. It's not a one-sided affair. There are actually more Republicans who have been investigated, prosecuted and imprisoned recently. The Democrat v Republican finger pointing sessions really get old. Every time something happens, each sides tries to trivialize the issue down to a single point of failure on the other side at which they can point blame. The Frank, Dodd, Fannie/Freddie line of attack on the mortgage crisis, which another person cited above, is a perfect example. The state of the economy and the housing bubble were not all caused by Democrats or Fannie and Freddie. They aren't even the biggest cause of the issue. There's plenty of blame to be thrown around on both sides in this enormous mess. The report on the causes and all of the people and organizations involved would fill a volume of books. I just have to laugh every time I read someone try to sum it up into a single paragraph and point fingers at just a few people while ignoring the rest of the story.

It`s the old liberal democrat shell game , bait & switch ; now you see it , now you don`t ! Obama is aware that his donkey dung projects like Socialized Health care , and Cap & Tax are not playing out well now that citizens are aware of the stupidity of his agenda ! When Obama needs a smoke screen he has everyone to focus on president Bush , so he and his socialist minions can move the shells around unnoticed while the liberal loons ride the hate Bush wagon ! You would be stunned to find out the things Obama and his liberal socialist congress can get away with in the dark of night while all are sleeping , or watching the shell game ! Then again maybe not !

Politicians love to make everything into a Democrat vs Republican issue. This way, he can continue to do whatever he's doing wrong because then he can say that we had it worse when Bush was in the White House. By the way, have you ever noticed that it's always Dems vs Rupublicans and never Independents vs Democrats or Libertarians vs Democrats? Anyways, people need to remember that Barrack Obama is a politician and has a job to do no matter what we think, he's not their to be our savior. I know I wouldn't want to place my faith in one person anyway. As soon as we ALL figure out that this Democrat Vs Republican thing is just a farce to keep us divided, game over!!! "Politicians create the problems and then campaign against them. That's why there's abortion, murder, drugs, prostitution, child porn, global warming, vote fraud and everything else that creates a need for someone to sit in their Washington D.C. offices and waste our taxpayer money.

Obama isn't interested in investigating the crimes of the Bush administration. He has way too much on his plate already.

If anyone is interested, then read Jane Mayer's book "The Dark Side." It pretty much gives Atty General Holder all the documentation he needs to make his case.

Sounds like theyre getting ready to defund the CIA and need political ammunition. Typical libs.

Also misdirection. The problems from 2000-2008 are worth dwelling on rather than leading and focusing on real problems of today, especially the one Pelosi and Obama are creating.

In my opinion it is another distraction from his failed policies--or maybe they are going in the direction he wants the stimulus policies to go. He said change. Nobody paid any attention to his past friends and mentors. One of his mentors is a guy who believes that for an even playing field the USA economy has to go bankrupt. He is succeeding in bankrupting America. If that is his change and it looks like it has become his agenda-then that will be America's change.

So to answer your question, as long as we and the media is looking into the past they won't see America's dark future.

Cap&Trade, Sotomayer, Healthcare legislation crumbling, RECORD $1 Trillion dollar deficit, recent admission that the "stimulus" was based on wishful thinking, etc.

It probably does need to be investigated. But they're using it as political cover.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/11/world/asia/11afg... Here is the actual story about the Afghan warlord and the successive treatment of the issue by the Bush Administration and now the Obama administration. I could find no article even mentioning the President's attitude towards this or blaming the Bush Administration for the massacre.

But the most encouraging thing to me is that we finally have an Attorney General who does not simply fall in line with what the President wants, unlike the last two. President Obama would prefer that we stop looking back and look forward, but it's the AG's job to investigate crime. So if you have evidence that he has a "sudden interest", please post it.

I have not heard this. If true it sounds like another attempt to keep the attention off of himself.

Remember, Liberals run for office by tearing down Conservatives and their ideas. If Liberals ran on THEIR ideas they would never win another election and they know this.

If you don't believe me then watch the mid-term elections and see what Liberals do.

It is all coming back to haunt you sympathizers of the most anti-American administration to have occupied the White House. Maybe the sharp shooter will turn his shotgun on himself.... we can only dream
