While Quaid was good, Kilmer was made for the role. Kilmer and his version of Doc Holliday had an irreverence toward life that Quaid just couldn't seem to pull off. Kilmer's Doc was just too likable. However, there is one part that Quaid got right and Kilmer didn't...Quaid's Doc pissed off everyone and didn't care that he pissed off everyone...Over all I give the edge to Kilmer.

Now if you really want to watch a film about Holliday...may I suggest "Doc" starring Stacey Keach? The film was produced in 1971, but Keach is the most well rounded Doc Holliday I've ever seen on film.

    I much prefer Dennis Quaid.

I never really saw much talent in Val Kilmer. But that's just an opinion. :)

Actually, I prefer Kirk Dougalss's...Kilmer's was too sickly & Quaid is a run of the mill actor best suited for Lifetime movies..

No doubt, Val Kilmer nailed that one, "Tombstone" is probably my favorite modern Western. Great role for both of them, and Quaid did a fine job, but Kilmer took it off the charts. There are so many lines from that movie that Kilmer all but stole the show.

    "I'm your huckleberries"

"Play for blood, that's just my game"

    "I think I hate em"

    "He reminds me of......me."

    "Yep, I hate em"

"Why Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked over your grave"

"Why Ike, whatever do you mean?"

"Down by the river, walking on water"

"I wasn't quite as sick as I let on"

Absolutely timeless performance, it was the pinnacle of Val Kilmer's career as an actor and etched him as an immortal in Westerns right along side names like Clint Eastwood and John Wayne.
