Which type of population benefits politicians more: A)informed public or B)ignorant/distracted public?

Do you think politicians would actively seek to create a population that is more susceptible to re-electing them without good reason (even if it wasn't in the general population's best interest)??

Update:

DAR................I might have to use that phrase..it's most excellent.

B benefits Obama. The news has told more about Michael Jackson in the past 2 days, than the threat of North Korea.

    B. A more informed population cannot be snowed under, for some politicians this is a nightmare, look at the trouble the Reps. are experiencing. They appear to be lost and unprepared for the 21st. century.
