I'm getting an HP 23" external monitor for my MacBook Pro... what wires/ adaptors do I need?

I'm getting this monitor: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/display/display...

What do I need in order to be able to hook it up? Also, will I be able to plug in an Apple keyboard and mouse (NOT wireless)? I have the new 13" MacBook Pro, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks a lot for your help... I'm ordering that adaptor from amazon but the reviews said it doesn't carry sound over so an extra connector is needed for audio. What connector is that?

You need to find out which Macbook you have.

The newest Macbook and Macbook Pro uses a miniDisplayPort, and they need this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/PTC-Premium-DisplayPort-Adap... and a standard HDMI cable.

The older MacbookPro has a full-sized DVI port, and that requires a DVI-to-HDMI cable: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR842LL/A?fnode=...

And the older Macbook has a miniDVI port, which requires this adapter: http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9321G/B?fnode=M... and a DVI-to-HDMI cable. http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR842LL/A?fnode=...

So you need to find out which Macbook you got, so you don't buy the wrong thing.

You use one of those combinations to connect to the HDMI port on that HP monitor.

And yes, you should be able to use the Apple keyboard and mouse, since those are standard USB devices.

I think the audio cable might be included with the HP monitor. It is a cable with a headphone-jack connector on each end. One end goes into the headphone jack on your Macbook, the other to the monitor.

Remember, don't order that adapter from Amazon unless you are absolutely sure you got the Macbook with the miniDisplayPort.

Yes you can get that connection. For this you require of a external

graphical card, that is with 9-pin female port on one end, and a male

port on other end. Apart this, you no need to have adaptor. Bcoz, it

will grasp only display signal from your note-book, not the power.
