Does anybody know of any good religious documentaries?

As an atheist, i watched the standard documentaries like:

- Jesus Camp

- America's most hated family

- Religulous

- The God that wasn't there

- The roof of all evil?

But are there any other documentaries worth watching?

they don't have to be from an atheist point of view.

Like a docu about searching Jesus his grave or about finding out if biblical stories are correct.

thanks :)

toomor: I love monthy python man :D but i wouldn't call it documentaries, rather satire.

i'm belgian btw

I would actually say most of those was worth watching and the others I have never watched. I watched the one about the grave of Jesus and

Israeli archaeologist Amos Kloner, who was among the first to examine the tomb when it was first discovered, said the names marked on the coffins were very common at the time.

"I don't accept the news that it was used by Jesus or his family," he told the BBC News website.

"The documentary filmmakers are using it to sell their film."

You seem to fit in well with what Prof. Daniel B. Wallace (wrote the textbook on ancient Greek & Greek translation) in an interview in the book "The Case for the Real Jesus" says "It's disturbing that when it comes to the Christian faith, people don't really want, or know how, to investigate the evidence", you just don't want to look at the historical evidence.

I would say this one a good documentary if you actually wanted something historical rather than fiction.

Jesus: Man, Messiah, or More? (8-Part DVD)

    Product Number: DV750

Jesus has always been controversial. Ever since He walked the shores of Galilee and the streets of Jerusalem, the questions have remained the same: Was He merely Jesus the man, the rabbi-teacher? Could He have been Jesus the Messiah of Israel? Or, most controversial of all, was He Jesus the Son of God?

One group of scholars is trying to clear up the confusion. For more than 10 years, they’ve studied key events in the life of Jesus. The goal of their historical research has been to resolve the great debate surrounding Jesus.

There are many good ones here.

    and here

"Merely having an open mind is nothing; the object of opening a mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid." G.K. Chesterton

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." -- George Orwell

"Truth is absolute and knowable and must be searched for diligently, but many are happier without truth and will try to hide it, deny it or muddy it." - Bai Leung.

I like "The Cross" , a recent movie and documentary about a California preacher who went to all the nations with a 12-foot cross to tell the world about Jesus. It took him 40 years and some of it is from old news clips. It's powerful.

For facts about the Bible, you could check this website about the Messianic prophecies:

The Discovery Channel has lots of documentaries and shows that you may enjoy viewing. There are many about the abundant historical and archaeological facts in the Bible for which scientists, historians, archaeologists, and others have proved as evident.

Those are some of the more popular religious documentaries.

    Try some of these:

    A History of disbelief

    the four horsemen

    god on my side

    who wrote the bible

The Life of Brian comes to mind but it is probably too sophisticated for most americans, there is also Monty Python and The Holy Grail

although it isn't a documentary, i still think it worth mentioning.

it is a hilarious comedy that focuses on the fallacy of religion, albeit from the standpoint of it actually being right.

You've really nailed some good ones there.

I also would hope to find more.

Have you seen Dawkins' "Enemies of Reason?"

It's not all about religion, but part of it is.
