The liver is located under the diaphragm of the patient's
There are two main lobes of the liver:
The right lobe, which is the largest, is located to the front
of the body and more to the right side of the body.
The left lobe, which is the smallest, is located from the
right lobe toward and maybe going over the center of the body
from the right side (also to the front)
At times, the doctor may feel the bottom of
the liver by placing his hand up under the patient's right ribs,
if the liver has become enlarged due to disease or
if the patient is very thin.
The one kidney is located to the back of the body, on
the right side, behind the liver and down just a little.
The liver as a whole is considered to be located in
the right upper quadrant, anterior in the body,
under the ribs.
Hope this is of some help.
