"There but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford",

"There but for the grace of God, go I ",

I too, like someone seen to have suffered misfortune, might have suffered a similar fate, but for God's mercy.

"There but for the disgrace of Bush v. Gore go I." 這句話是美國經濟學家克魯格曼(Paul Krugman) 今年六月七號在 The New York Times 專欄發表的文章:

    Gordon the Unlucky

It’s a sobering prospect. If I were a member of the Obama administration’s economic team — a team whose top members were as enthusiastic about the wonders of modern finance as their British counterparts — I’d be looking across the Atlantic and muttering, “There but for the disgrace of Bush v. Gore go I.”

    "go I."是什麼意思?

沒有足以採信的文字記錄可以證明John Bradford 是否說過, "There but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford", 但John Bradford 的故事可以讓我們容易理解這句話

Were it not for God's grace, I would be there (or I would be suffering that)

There goes my friend John, but except for God's grace, I could be that person instead of John.

    There goes John. (John

    There I go.

There (but for the grace of God) go I. 如果要將but for the grace of God, 置入 There I go.

2.) "There but for the disgrace of Bush v. Gore go I."

"There but for the disgrace of Bush v. Gore go I."
