What is the english translation for the russian word Lapochka?

I think it is a term of endearment, but is it used for anyone you're close to or only with a significant other?

The term of endearment "лапочка" can be translated to English as:

    1) "lassie" when describing a pretty and/or nice girl/woman

    2) sweetpie, darling, sweetheart

    3) honey (there is a 2003 motion picture released by Universal Pictures, its title "honey" was translated into Russian as "лапочка")

Yes, it is a term of endearment. It is used generally in relation to little nice girl. For example: Четыре сыночка и лапочка дочка (four sons and one lapochka-doughter). It is not used in relation to adult or a little boy.

It means Lassie. You are right, it is for meaning of endearment to a wife. Its funny because the word is from Lapa, which means animal paw.

It is mostly used for someone who is very cute (a cute baby, a cute animal, and even a handsome man who looks a little bit cute)
