To increase friction, dancing barefoot is ideal.

Any type of dance shoe can decrease friction. Canvas shoes are more slippery than leather. Jazz and ballet shoes are the best for turning. A wood floor also produces less friction than other types of floors. Repeatedly dancing on one spot also makes it more slippery.
