I'm including links to Amazon. If the author has a excerpt (usually a chapter or part of a chapter) posted on their site I've listed it otherwise I've included links to the author's websites.

    Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

(Sci-Fi/Dystopian) If you like the Uglies, I think this might be other science fiction to interest in. In ruins of the United States, the country is controlled by the whims of the capital. Katnis is caught in a deadly game one that threatens both her life and her heart.

    Fake ID by Walter Sorrells

(Suspense) When her mother disappears, 16 Cass has six days to find her or children's services will be called. However, things aren't straight forward. Cass's mom ran for a reason, the same reason why she ran the other times before, but this time she left Cass. How is Cass suppose to find her mom when she doesn't even know her own name?

    Christopher Killer by Alane Ferguson

(Mystery) Cameryn helps her dad with his work as the county coroner. Her first official case as his assistant turns out to be a girl she knows, and a girl who was murdered.

    Glass Houses by Rachel Caine

(Fantasy/Vampires) Dorm life is living hell for college freshman Claire with the constant bullying of the popular crowd. She's had enough and leaves the campus to find somewhere else to live. Her sleepy college turns out not to be what it appears outside the confines of the campus. There are forces far more sinister at work in Morganville, Texas.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

(fantasy/adventure) Choice A: be executed for the murder of a noble's son. Choice B: become the Commander's food tester. Yelena chooses to enter the service of her country's leader, and is soon caught up in the political intrigue and a desperate struggle to survive. Maybe it would have been easier just to have chosen A.

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

(Fantasy/Adventure) This fast pace adventure follows the quest of a modern day hero, Percy. Don't judge him though, he'd rather not be compared Hercules. If it was up to him he would live a quiet normal life. It's not up him, as the son of a god he's stuck with a demonic math teacher, picking fights with Ares, and finding the gateway to the underworld- in Los Vagas.

Kathy Reichs has a series. She also has a television show based on her character, Temperence Brennan. The show is called Bones. And the book, and the show, is about Dr. Brennan, nicknamed "Bones", because she is a forensic anthropologist. The show is a bit different than the books though. I think I prefer the books over the show. But both are really good. The books involve a little mystery and suspense, not just forensics.

Or if you're looking for something with a little edge, a little bit of weirdness, you should try V.C. Andrews books. They're a little strange, but very popular. Her book "Flowers In The Attic" was made into a movie in the 70's or 80's.

Source(s): I like Twilight but god lord can you people shut up about it already? Read Shakespeare - he's waaaaaaay better!

I'm reading the dragonlance series right now and they are awesome! It's in the fantasy genre so if you like fantasy, you'll probably love this series. It starts out with the dragonlance chronicles and the first book is called Dragons of Autumn Twilight and the authors are Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman.

Hi! Well Ellen Hopkins is an amazing author that writes book that are not exactly in a series but are all related to serious topics... some of the books include Identical, Burned, Glass, amd Crank. They are all books that are written on serious topics like teenage suicide, abusive parents, and forbidden love. I loved all of these book and they really relate to teenage love and drama... I defanitly reccomend reading them:)

Romance/chick-lit/girly type stuff that I love

☼ Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

☼ Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler

☼Beach Blondes by Katherine Applegate (extremely cute & funny!)

☼Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot (Okay, so you've probably seen the lame movie, but let me tell ya, these books are absolutely NOTHING like the movie. The movie is cute I guess, but these books hold a lot more meaning and honesty in how teenagers feel, rather than the twisted crap that Disney made. These books are funnier than you'd think and I read like fourteen books in the series, they're highly addicting)

☼Dreamland by Sarah Dessen (Girl loves guy, guy loves girl, girl gets attatched to guy, guy starts abusing girl. but its not like she can leave him because he's a mysterious genius that nobody understands, or even takes the time to. He's pretty amazing, this book is a major page turner.

☼Just Listen by Sarah Dessen (This book gave me a whole new level of love for music. It really made me think and understand. And it also made me fall in love with nothingness (go to page 339 and you'll know why).

☼ Maximum Ride by James Patterson (boys might like it too!)

☼ Daughters of the Moon, book 1, Goddess of the Night by Lynne Ewing

☼ Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (I'm currently reading!)

☼Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares (Amazing! Gah, I didn't think I'd love it as much as I did but I started the books on easter this year and I finished the 4th one last night.

☼My Sister's Keeper by Jodie Picoult. (I guess you could say this is a "friendship" book, but the friendship is between two sisters. Its becoming a movie and it comes out June 26th. The link will be at the bottom of this answer. I am currently reading this book and it is FANTASTIC!)

    Historical Based

☼ Diary of a Young Girl- Anne Frank (A diary a girl wrote about herself when she was in hiding from the Nazi's. Her dad found her diary after she died in concentration camps and he published it).

☼ Anne Frank and Me by Cherie Bennett (An amazing twist to the diary --above-- but only read it if you've read the diary!)

☼ Destined to Live by Ruth Greuner (A Holocaust surviver)

The JD Robb books are really funny. They're actually by Nora Roberts but the writing style is different than her other books.
