Business and Management Studies course provides students with an awareness of the broad range of knowledge required in modern management, and equips them with specialised knowledge to tailor the degree to meet their own individual needs and career plans. The course aims at developing the analytical and behavioral skills students require to make effective use of knowledge after graduation. In the first year students study the basic disciplines involved in management. In each of the second and final years they select a further twelve modules from a list of about 50, enabling them to design a programme of study to suit their own needs. Areas of specialisation include accounting, financial management, marketing, psychology, production/operations management, human resource management, and the more quantitative aspects of information management and business information systems. There are also multidisciplinary modules on subjects such as international tourism management, international business, and strategic management, which integrate knowledge from many single disciplines.
