Airbus A330 Ice & Rain control?

In reference to the A330 Ice & Rain control. How does the heat for the Pitot tube work exactly? So it it heated by electric resistance type heat by a coil wrapped around. Fine. But what turns it on? How does the heat for the Pitot tube work exactly? So it it heated by electric resistance type heat by a coil wrapped around. Fine. But what turns it on? Is it turned on automatically by the onboard computers or does the flight crew have to always remember to flip the switch for the Pitot heater on the instrument panel? What if the circuit breaker should trip and the pilot and co-pilot don't know where the breaker switch is and they are too preoccupied with other stuff to stay in control of the airplane during inclement weather conditions?

Furthermore. If the circuit for the Pitot tube has an "Open" in it preventing the Pitot tube from heating up. Is this dangerous condition sent to the "annunciator panel" to alert the onboard flight crew?
