    The formula for the surface area of a rectangular prism is:

    SA = 2lh + 2wh + 2lw

    However, since this has a square base, l = w. Therefore,

    SA = 2lh + 2lh + 2l^2

    If x = length and h = height, substitute!

    SA = 2xh + 2xh + 2x^2

    ==> SA = 2x^2 + 4xh

    Therefore, the surface area in terms of x and h is 2x^2 + 4xh.

    Hope this helps.

    This is just a guess there are 3 different size area the one face open X 2 the other two X 4, Add them together everyone is forgetting surface inside of box

    the area of a serface i its length times its with

    for total surface are find the area of each face since the top and bottom faces are square their area is x^2 for each

    there are 4 side faces each with xh as their area

    so add up all six giving

    x^2+x^2+xh+xh+xh+xh

    or

    2x^2+4xh

    x * h = area

    width * height = area

    width * height * length = volume
