Dogs who have been rejected by an owner,
with which they had a strong bond,
have been know to reject food and water until they die.
"An 8-year-old girl had a cat which she surrounded with all her care and affection. The two were very bound. But the child died of a sudden condition, and everybody forgot in a such a difficult moment about the cat. When they remembered about the animal, it was gone.
Three months later, a scratch was heard at the door. It was the cat, weakened and with sad eyes. The cat refused food or caresses; it went to the girl's room, looked around, went to the open window and tossed itself: it died with the skull crashed on the pavement."

Scorpians have been known to end their lives
through repeatedly stinging themselves.
This would happen usually in very high temperatures.
As with humans,
suicide can be provoked by high levels of serotonin.
Serotonin, among others,
is a chemical that has to do with love, attachment, and sexuality.
Lower levels are harmless and wonderful.
High levels lead to irrational behavior,
and even insanity.
Serotonin levels can be driven up by rejection,
or the loss of a mate.
For some reason, humans are so narcissistic..
that many of us don't acknowlege the fact
that we are not the only animal that feels emotions.
We seem to get the idea,
that our emotions are so profound,
that they could not be understood
by a less intelligent species.
This is such a false pressumtion.
Anyone who has a pet companion should know this..
When you come home after being out,
doesn't your pet get really excited?
Jump on you.. try to give you kisses,
run around in an extremely happy mood?
And in nature..
amimals form bonds with eachother.
If a mate dies,
they feel extreme depression.
Human emotions are the same basic emotions,
which all animals have.
Only made complicated by intelligence.
