Cherry Hill is very close (less than 20 minutes) from Center City Philadelphia, so you have instant access to touring Broadway shows, opera, museums, etc.
The Camden County Parks Department (encompasses Cherry Hill) has a very active summer events series - free outdoor movies, concerts, a jazz series on the riverfront, boat races, classic car shows, etc. It's something that lots of people get into during the summer. Link below.
I don't know about Cherry Hill, but the next town over (Voorhees) has a very active CER (Community Education and Recreation) program - cooking classes, dance classes, exercise/yoga, and professional development courses. I'm sure Cherry Hill has a similar program, but I don't know for sure.
There are also reasonably-prices courses at Camden County College, which has a branch in Cherry Hill.
The main shopping area is Cherry Hill Mall, which is in the middle of a revitalization/construction project. Voorhees Town Center in Voorhees (formerly Echelon Mall) is also being redone right now, and Deptford Mall is close by. The former Cherry Hill Racetrack has been redone into a major shopping area with restaurants and stores. Eastgate Center (close-by in Moorestown) is pretty much ditto.
Close towns of Haddonfield, Moorestown, and Collingswood have cute, walkable Main Street areas full of locally-owned restaurants and stores.
And, of course, there's the Jersey shore (Ocean City, Cape May - America's oldest Victorian , the Wildwoods, Seaside, etc.) and Atlantic City are all close enough for a day trip or a romantic weekend.
If you and your husband have kids, you may want to check out the Camden Waterfront, which has an aquarium and a children's garden. Camden is still not the safest place in the world, but it is OK during the day - don't drive around, just go to the waterfront and then leave.
You can also take day trips or weekend overnights to New York City, Baltimore, Annapolis (beautiful town/small city in Maryland, home to the naval academy), the Delaware beaches (which may rival the Jersey shore in beauty), and Washington DCSource(s): Camden County Parks: http://www.ccparks.com/ Voorhees CER: http://www.voorheescer.com/ Camden County College: http://www.camdencc.edu/ Cherry HIll Mall: http://www.cherryhillmall.com/ Camden Waterfront: http://www.camdenwaterfront.com/
