I am sooo sorry for your loss! I know exactly how you feel! We lost our golden, died in my arms! It was awful. She died a half hour after we picked her up from her first stay at a kennel for 4 days. She died of bloat. Nothing we could do but the vet should have seen the signs long before we picked her up. Anyway...........it was a very tramatic time in our families life. My hubby was devastated. My kids and I went 2 weeks later to VOLUNTEER at a local shelter. We would feed, walk, and play with the dogs and pups. We went 2 times a week for 3 weeks with no intention of getting another dog. We did it to help us heal. Well.........one day we came in and see a litter of Golden/lab pups 5 of them rescued from a train track. The mom couldn't be found.Then.......this woman walked in holding an adorable female golden pup, 6 wks old. She looked EXACTLY LIKE our late golden. My kids and I went nuts over her. They kept her for me for 5 days, we went everyday to see her and then I decided I would adopt her. Now I didn't tell my hubby either. We gave her a bath, put a red ribbon around her neck and put her in a picnic basket. I brought her home and put her in the middle of the floor, and POP she came out! My hubby cried. But it took awhile to warm up to her and me too :( He was mad but now they are inseperable. She so wonderful... never can replace our beloved dog, but she helped us through our pain and we will never forget our beloved dog we miss so much! I say get one!!!! She would want you to! Get a golden/lab mix. Adopt one,,,,,,,,,they need a home, all those sad faces :( Stay away from puppy mills and pet stores.
