What do U think of special federal voting referenda for large spending bills?

Is it realistic to think Americans could hold special elections for these huge spending initiatives such as bailouts?

Once upon a time I would say that was to expensive. When congress is talking trillions here and there, all of a sudden that's affordable and not a bad idea

    ...ummmm....no.

It's too important to put to the whims of an uninformed majority.

...all that would do is incite more confusion and disinformation from the mass media....

Everything would just be a contest for Dems and Reps to see who can confuse the most people on every issue.

    Ask 10 people at random.....

Is the bailout for the banks a loan or a gift ?..... I'll bet you 8 of them get it wrong.

No, I don't trust the people with stuff like that. Most Americans are not economists.

What would be the purpose of having a representative form of government if the populace votes on everything? DUH!!!!!!!!!
