You should not let worldly possessions run your life, and get in the way between you and God.

    Love God more than Money.

Mat 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Mat 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness!

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

when you serve God everything else should become secondary our sole purpose for living will be to honor and glorify God-when you serve money greed becomes your first priority and takes over your way of life

Actually it says mammon. Mammon refers to the materialistic desires, money being just one.

To serve - defitions relating to serving in this context:

To work for. To be a servant to. To give homage and obedience to.

To act toward (another) in a specified way. To act in a particular capacity

Whatever it is that you place first in your life is your god. Many are a servant to money in that it is taht for which they pursue the most.

Let me correct you: The verse says you can not serve GOD and mammon. Or Man. To serve GOD means to do what HE wants you to do. And to serve man is to do what man on this earth wants you to do.

Christians serve both, that is why it says "in God we Trust" on the money... They want to feel like its ok to be greedy, as long as God's name is on something, its GOOD.... pfffttt

    God and mammon

Money - material things come first, and help you to define who you are as a person, the most important thing in your life

God - the spiritual dimension to yourself - the development of yourself into a better person, the most important thing in your life

Not a lot of room for both if taken to extremes!!

It means it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into Heaven.

If money is more important to you than God, then you have a problem.
