What happens during the ball scene in Sweeney Todd?

In the beginning of the movie, Mrs. Lovette is singing to Sweeney about how his wife was tricked into going to a ball at the judges house. She says that she didn't know anyone there and ended up drinking a lot and Sweeney interrupts her yelling "NO! Would nobody have mercy on her?" So I'm confused. Did something happen in the Original play that they didn't put in the movie or did I just miss something? You kind of see the judge swoop over her so is that supposed to simulate that he raped her or something?
