Look at how hard Neil struggled in the middle to late 60s to get his career started, then look at how he continually reinvented his music throughout the last 40 years to keep his listeners hungry, Neil Young is one of the more talented musicians in our time, if you need to be motivated, read his autobiography SHAKEY..Dennis Miller said it best to Dave Grohl when he interviewed him, he told Dave he was going to pay him the ultimate compliment and told him he has some Neil Young in him, yes Dennis, there couldnt be a more prestigious honor than the label of carrying some Neil Young traits...

I hate to admit, but for me he was an acquired taste.

Was. Then, from "gradual" to like a bolt from the sky,

like overnight, a friend coaxed me into watching

the "Rust..." movie back when VHS was the new discovery.

I sat, listening, watching, DUMBfounded, in genuine awe,

being inspired, and never looking back since.

Fastforward to the early '90s, and during an induction or some

festivity, a couple guys named Page and Plant had "Ol' Neil"

on stage to PERFORM "When The Levee Breaks" with them.

The particular version which came of it was BOTH purely

Mr. Young AND as true to the song as it could be.

Man, did it rock! I've been on Sugar Mountain ever since.

    Neil forever!

Agree. He may be the finest living songwriter. A man who has never sacrificed his artistic or social values during a decades-long career and has both pushed the sonic envelope and paid tribute to past traditions. A genius.

He was for some time for me in the late 80's. Needle and the damage done - many a night singing along. The words were so touching and you can almost imagine what it must feel like to be caught up in that nightmare,

Agree totally. He is one of my favorite Classic Rock artists. Heat of Gold was the song that got me started in Folk Rock.
