Is there a generic SQL certification available?
...If not, what would be the best, quick, all-purpose SQL certification to get? I'm looking for work as an analyst and "SQL" is often a requirement for the positions for which I apply. I am currently Access certified but I want to have something more to put on my resume. At this point I can't say in which area I would be most likely to use SQL so I don't want to overspecialize in something I may not end up using. Thx.

I've never seen a generic certification, and honestly every SQL framework I've dealt with has been different enough that at least half of the stuff needs to be rewritten if you want to changes databases.
The major ones are Oracle, IBM, and MicroSoft with various open source databases following (Ingres, postGres, MySQL, etc.). However, once you "understand" SQL and are interviewing with someone who isn't looking for an expert you should be in the running for any SQL required job.
Since you already have Access, I'd say go with MSSQL and focus on understanding the fundamentals of what SQL is all about. You should be able to answer any SQL questions pretty well if you've got the concepts down.

No. I don't think so. Oracle OCP has one part of certification based on SQL , PL/SQL etc. Learn Oracle SQL online here and other certification tutorials:Source(s): http://www.scertifications.com http://www.learnoracle.info http://www.sapcertification.info http://www.sap-tutorials.blogspot.com http://www.sapdownloads.blogspot.com http://www.sap-install.blogspot.com
