When and why the war in Iraq started?

In writing a research paper and I have no idea what happened to get the US involved with Iraq? Did they threaten The US or something. Didnt the war start in the 90s? any info would be helpful!

The war was a result of the violation of 18 United Nation Security Council Resolutions by Saddam Hussein and the enforcement of this by the United States after nearly 3000 innocent American citizens were brutally murdered on September 11th 2001.President George W. Bush presented this to the U.N. and made every diplomatic effort to resolve the issue by means of existing consequences being enforced. A bipartisan decision of Congress enacted the deployment of the U.S. Military to remove Saddam Hussein from the leadership of Iraq.

You had better expand your research efforts far, far beyond Y/A if you want to have something of substance to say.

BTW your ignorance is amazing - have you been living in a cave with wolves perhaps?
