Animal Rights Groups?

I would love to be a member of an Animal Rights group but, I'm not sure which one.

I do NOT want to be associated with PeTA so please, don't suggest them. I'm very aware how terrible they are. I'd like to be associated with a group that isn't filled with nutters and lunatics. A group that is peaceful and isn't an extremest group that is blinded by their ways.

Any suggestions? Please, again, not PeTA or anything like PeTA.

Animal welfare groups argue for greater protection for non-human animals, particularly those used by human beings in laboratories or in entertainment, as well as domestic animals such as those used for food, labour, or as companions (pets).

Unlike animal rights groups, animal welfare groups do not argue that animals should never be used, or kept as property, by human beings. Nor do any animal welfare groups advocate violence. These groups tend to seek legal, social and financial strategies.

Not that I care that you don't like PeTA, but you probably shouldn't generalize about a group just because of a couple of extremists.

Anyway, every area has an ASPCA, American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Gland you don't like peta...they hurt the cause. Anyway, my area has a no kill animal shelter that is more of a club. They have benefit concerts, Santa paws auctions, spay neuter programs etc... we adopted our dog from them who would have been put down because he was heart worm positive but still had some good years left. They are really quite remarkable, and in a way are fighting for animal rights not to be killed in shelters. It is possible you have one in your area.

This is not exactly an animal rights grope but it is something I believe in.
