i have a magnavox 51mp392h/17 tv i want to connect an hdmi cable from my ps3 to my tv but theres no hdmi jack?

Out of luck. If you do not have an HDMI port, you TV will not be able to handle the signal. The best quality your TV can get is with the Component (Red, Blue, and Green plugs). Your TV can only handle 480P Signals, so you will get no High Definition graphics at all. Just Progressive Scan. Only solution is a new TV with HDMI hookup and 1080P output if you want to take advantage of your PS3s full capabilities.
