what does the attorney general and state auditor do?

The Attorney General is charged with enforcing the laws of his jurisdiction and that can be the United States, or one of the States themselves. But also.. many of the smaller local government places in the United States.
The State Auditor looks at the numbers that the State he is associated with is generating as it operates, and makes sure they are not spending State money in a way that is not authorized, or in a way that is excessive.

Both are devoted to getting elected to the next highest office.
