What prescription to treat ear infection?

I've had an ear infection for a while now. I've got the gross leaking going on.

Went to an ENT today and he didn't even know that you gotta treat an ear infection like this for bacteria and fungus.

He gave me neomycin.

What have you been prescribed for an ear infection of this type?

A antibiotic? Penicillin's, cephalosporins, sulfonamides, and erythromycins. Amoxicillin is the most common antibiotic used to treat ear infections. A lot depends on when you last had a course of antibiotics and what the antibiotic was. So if you had another infection and they prescribed penicillin, no point in giving you another course of penicillin so soon, so they gave you a mycin, as in erythromycin because they do not want you building up immunity to antibiotics.
