Sad-sounding names, please?

Yes, I'm writing a book. Everyone has names except for the main character. I haven't found a really good name for her. She's gentle, willful, and a very sad character. She has brown hair, fair skin, and gray eyes. I really like the idea of using an old-fashioned name for her. A little help, please?

Grace - First thing that came to my mind straight away.

She needs an elegant name. Here are some others:

    Claire

    Melanie/Melody

    Rose

    Leia/Leah - first one is pronounced "lay-uh"

    Laney - my second favorite

    Jacquelyn

    Meredith

Good luck! I think Grace and Laney would be best!

I love the name Laura. It's old-fashioned and it just reminds me of sadness and beauty.

I also think Mary is a good name and Ellen.

    Rosaline

    Opheilia

    Juliet

    Eva

(I know the first three are from various Shakespeare plays, but they remind me of sadness and beauty, so, YAH.)
