How many pairs of chromosomes are in a human's sex cells?

I know that humans have 23 chromosomes in their sex cells, but how many pairs are there? What I want to know is the number of pairs that are in the sex cells, not the somatic cells. I know that the body cells contain 46 chromosomes, 23 pairs, but how many pairs are in the sex cells if they only contain 23 chromosomes? Thank you.

A normal human cell has 22 pairs of chromosomes

However here arent any pairs in a single sperm cell or egg as they pair up with eachover. They each have 12 chromosomes each, 11 normal 'instructions' and another that allows them to join.

    Sex Chromosomes

The nuclei of human cells contain 22 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. In females, the sex chromosomes are the 2 X chromosomes. Males have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. The presence of the Y chromosome is decisive for unleashing the developmental program that leads to a baby boy.

I'm pretty sure their aren't any pairs because they pair up with the 23 in the other sex cell when fertilized
