As one who has lived in an Arabic speaking country many years, I am well familiar with the uses of this word. It is used to reassure someone apologetic: "khalas" means "it's all right, forget it". It is used in just the opposite manner, to shush someone: "khalas" means "shut up!" It depends on the tone and context, but it can mean many, many things.
Once, while in the presence of a royal in an official capacity, His Royal Highness at one point raised his voice above the din, exclaiming, "khalas!" which quieted everyone and put an end to the subject on which we were speaking. I would therefore submit that culturally, the person of highest social ranking reserves the right to use this word.

Do you mean 'khalas' as in the Arabic word?
Okay, 'Khalas' means 'stop' or 'enough'
This is just a random sentence (in English), so don't laugh:P :
'Oh, come on, Khalas, you can stop now, the lessons finished!'
My friend says things like that all the time :P

These days you can learn how to speak Arabic over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best Arabic online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/arabic The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn Arabic in just 3 months.
I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a Arabic language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.
