for street fighting you need to be skilled in all areas of combat, kicking to punching, to clinching to ground fighting. many of the traditional arts don't cover all of these so i'm going with mma in this one, there are two different styles of mma, 1 being for competition, and the other for street fighting, and self defense. street styles are like krav maga, jeet kune do, and other reality fighting arts. the traditional arts haven't evolved granted yeah training in the traditional arts is a good way to start when your younger because you get a keen sense of what it's like to train for combat, but as for applying it in the street i'll take a street fighter who can punch, kick, clinch, wrestle and knows submissions over any traditional styled master. and this has been proven over and over again.
trained martial arts my entire life, started with the traditional arts, to cross training in many different arts, and to street, and competition mma.
