Why can't I choose where my taxes go?

I'm paying my taxes, and was wondering why I can't designate where they go. I know that the majority of my taxes (over 50%) go to pay for current war and debt on past wars. Like the Iraq war, which turned out to be illegal and launched on false pretenses. I would like my taxes NOT to go to that war. Why can't I choose?

Because taxes are collected for the benefit of all and those that need it. Since ours is a representative government, you have assigned that responsibility to that person.
