all AKs are not created equal. SARs are considered to be very poorly built AKs. Remember, there are a ton of factories the Russians set up to make AKs and not all are equally good. To make matters worse, most AKs must be disassembled and shiped to the USA in parts, and then reassembled here, sometimes with a new receiver.
Lancaster Consulting and Arsenal are two names of really good AK 'assemblers' who know what they are doing, take the time to do it right, and reject any worn or old parts. Your Romanian AK just doesn't compare. Of course, your SAR-1 Romak right now retails for about $500 (yes unbelievable, I'd rather have a $300 SKS) and the Lancaster assembled AKs run for $900. Another option for a little less is the Yugo Underfolder AK-47 (also called the M70), that goes for about $700 and is twice the gun as your SAR. However, these are being snapped up and I expect then to be $800 or $900 soon (and I expect the Lancaster and Arsenal AKs to go up in price too)
Now, onto the Tantal. It is good, pretty comparable to the Yugoslavian M70. It is also less expensive. It is not nearly the great gun the first poster is spouting off about. Also, while there is a lot of inexpensive 5.45x39 ammo right now, I expect that as soon as the current stock is sold, there will be no more imported. This means you save $200 now, but you will pay for that later x10 in ammo prices in a few years.
Honestly, i'd really suggest you look into an AR...or spend some serious money on a good AK
