flaking intergenic regions是什麼

請問paper裏所指的flaking intergenic regions是什麼意思

    I think you mean 'flanking' intergenic region. If you imagine a gene, then the flanking intergenic region is basically regions 'outside' of a gene on both the 5' and 3' end of the gene.

    For example, if you have:

    5' a(GENE1)b----------------c(GENE2)d---------------e 3'

    then the area between b-c and d-e would be the 'flanking intergenic region' of the GENE2 in the middle.

    Does that make sense?
