Would you rank Woodrow Wilson as one of the top 3 worst presidents of ALL TIME?

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."

Absolutely, he was the worst president ever. I don't care if he admitted to "unwittingly" ruining his country. The damage that he has done to American liberty is unforgivable.

Woodrow Wilson established the Federal Reserve, which is a central bank that undermined the gold standard, confiscated people's wealth via inflation (still happening today, faster than ever), and made it possible for the government to spend way beyond its means and expand and become oppressive. We are still greatly suffering from those effects today.

He also created the first income tax, with the lie that its only for the very rich and it first didn't seem to be that bad. It did not exist in America's greatest years of growth (the tariff used to bring most revenue) and the lack of an income tax allowed people to keep more of their money and keep the government limited. But Woodrow Wilson did not like that at all, and now we are left with a 25-35% tax on our labor.

As for WWI, there was really no reason for the US to get into it. I know there were some German subs that attacked British ships that happened to have some Americans on them, but that was hardly a reason to get into what was at the time, the most destructive war in world history. And the Zimmerman telegram was not a real threat. The cost of going to war was far far greater, in money, liberty, and lives. Most people strongly opposed going to war, so Wilson told people that it was a war to spread democracy and freedom (sound familiar?) and that it is a war to end all wars. Not to mention, the massive anti-German and neocon-esque warmongering propaganda, probably full of lies, all to sway public opinion. Then he also took away people's liberties by imprisoning them for questioning the war, criticizing the allies, and even reading the Bill of Rights in public. He socialized the economy in "total war" with excessive central planning, and it can be argued that it set the precedent for FDR's statist New Deal and subsequent socialism. Oh and there was a DRAFT, leading thousands of innocent Americans into military slavery and death, under the idea that the government owns them.

America really had no business being in that war, which was a long stalemate, and swaying it to the allies caused a victory that led to a brutal punishment of the Germans. Now the punishing provisions of the Versailles treaty are not all Wilson's fault, but he greatly mishandled the peace process with his uncompromising attitude. If the US had stayed out of the war, then both sides would have eventually ran out of resources and sued for peace, and a much more reasonable treaty. Meaning there would have been no WWII.

Wilson's intervention changed the course of world history, and considering the events that happened 25 years after his intervention, probably for the worse. He brought the national debt from $1 billion to $25 billion. The Federal Reserve is enabling the bankruptcy of America by allowing it to spend as much as it wants by printing money. The future consequences of the all the rising deficits and debts could be very severe. I always thought Bush was really bad, but he was nothing compared to Wilson. Thats my case for Wilson being the worst president.

lincoln was the greatest president the war was over the states seceding from union he once said that if he could leave slavery alone he would without going to war. FDR wasnt one of the worst people give him too much credit for the great depression but he eventually put men back to work.

Wilson i would not call one of the top three worst presidents although he was awful i would rank James buchanan Andrew Johnson and Millard Fillmore as the top three.

Wilson had his flaws, but his progressive legislation, particularly in his first term, left the nation considerably better off than when he came in.

Our 3 worst Presidents were the two who essentially let the Civil War happen, Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan; and the bum we just got rid of, George W. Bush, who combined the economic policy of Herbert Hoover with the ethics of Richard Nixon. And the intelligence of Warren Harding.
