    Q=(Mass)(Change in Temp)(Specific Heat)

    Q=(100grams)(10Celcius)(1.00 cal)

    ------------------------

    grams * Celcius

    grams and celcius cancel out leaving you with calories

    cal/gC is the same as

    cal

    ----

    g x C

    = 1000 cal reported to one significant figure

    Heat= mass X specific heat X change in temperature

    heat= 100 g X specific heat of 1cal/g x 10oC (the change in temperature)

    Heat= 100 X 1X 10= 1000calories also written 1Kcal or 1 Calorie
