Army Ranger School admission?

I am 16 years old and plan to enlist in the Army at the age of 18. After basic, im going to get my Advanced Training in Infantry. After that i'll go to Airborne school. I am wondering that after that i can go to Ranger School immediately or if i have to be a certain rank to go to Ranger School.

You have to be a private first class to allpy to ranger school. In most cases, you will be a specialist before you are able to attend. If you join th ranger regiment, you will have to spend at least a year in the regiment before you go to ranger school. If you are not in the ranger regiment, Your chances of getting into ranger school as a specialist are lower becuase you will have to wait your turn. In that case, you will most likely have to make sergeant. It is easier to ger a ranger school slot in the airborne, compared to the rest of the army. Army infantry basic training is a one station unit traing, where basic and advanced training is combined. If you want to be a ranger, enlist in the Army on a ranger contract and join the ranger regiment. It is nearly impossible to get into the ranger regiment any other way. Tell the recruiter that is what you want and don't settle for anything else. I am assuming that you will be in good enough shape. To get into the ranger regiment you must be able to do10 pullups with a short pause in the up position between repetitions, 50 pushups, 60 situps, run 1 mile in 6 minutes run 2 miles in 15 minutes, run 5 miles in 40 minutes, and run 8 miles non-stop with 40 pounds on your back.

It's almost unheard of for a soldier to make it to Ranger School right after Basic. Which means that I have never actually heard of it. Ranger School is generally offered to soldiers after they've spent some time in the Army and are either an NCO, Officer or getting ready to promote to NCO. Even Rangers in the Ranger Battalions have to prove themselves before being allowed to go to Ranger School. Getting Airborne is putting you on the right track. You may even be able to get into a Ranger Battalion if you so desire. But you'll have to earn the school while there and that isn't easy to do. Good-luck

You may be eligible to serve in the Ranger Regiment after completing Infantry and Airborne training through an Option 40 enlistment contract, however, Ranger school positions are usually reserved for people who have at least a couple years in service and are deemed "ready".
