What is Air Force TACP training like?
What can I expect mentally and physically? How long is training to be a TACP?

On par with Army Ranger training, but about a year long.
You will become physically fit to the extreme.
You will become a quasi-"air traffic controller"
You will become a weapons expert.
Alot of hazing and PT and studying. Enjoy!Source(s): 10 Years in the USAF as a pilot.

It is not on par with Ranger training .. if it were, then TACPs that are assigned to the Ranger Regt. wouldn't have to go through another indoc nor would they have to have a few years of conventional service as a TACP before they can apply for the SOF TACP positions.
You will not become a 'quasi air traffic controller" .. you will be taught to call in air strikes for close air support.
The training is not even close to a year long, the school itself is 73 academic training days (not counting your weekends as you have most of those off). There is no indoc but you must pass the TACP version of the PAST. Training days consist of daily PT that requires you to be in good physical condition, the actual academic portion of your training, and a ruck march once a week.
