In the summer of 1900, the Empress Dowager of Cixi was staying in the Forbidden City and listening to the cannon thunder and crackle of rifles as an army of Boxers, rebel Chinese opposed to foreign influence in their country, attacked the foreigners trapped inside the delegation quarter.

之後attacked是前面the Empress Dowager of Cixi的非限定非分詞片語。

Our members are definitely opposed to making concessions on the safety question.

Our members definitely oppose making concessions on the safety question.

    2) be opposed to: 反對;抗拒, 其分詞型態是(being) opposed to ; 而"opposed to foreign influence"是個分詞片語, 是省略了being, 也是從子句"which were opposed to foreign influence"減化而得.

    (being) surprised at

    (being) satisfied with

    (being) tired of/with

    (being) interested in

    (being) excited/amazed/disappointed at

the Empress Dowager of Cixi was staying in the Forbidden City and listening to the cannon thunder and crackle of rifles

an army of Boxers(主詞), rebel Chinese opposed to foreign influence in their country, attacked(動詞) the foreigners trapped inside the delegation quarter in the summer of 1900

I'm very opposed to our war in Iraq.

    http://www.rediff.com/news/2004/mar/08jane1.htm

I'm very interested in your proposal.

Tom is a boy so interested in football.

Our members are definitely opposed to making concessions on the safety question. =

Our members definitely oppose making concessions on the safety question. =

Making concessions on the safety question is definitely opposed by our members.

其實這裡Boxers的同位語是兩個逗號之間的“rebel Chinese opposed to foreign influence in their country”整段:

rebel Chinese opposed to foreign influence in their country

= rebel Chinese (who were) opposed to foreign influence in their country

...as an army of Boxers, ..., attacked the foreigners trapped inside the delegationquarter.
