My daughter is in 4th grade. Right now she's reading The Great Gilly Hopkins, by Katharine Paterson (who also wrote Bridge to Terabithia). I read it and fell in love with Gilly -- a foster child who's tough, VERY smart, and remarkably resilient.

    Other suggestions:

The Magic Finger, Matilda, and The B.F.G., by Roald Dahl

Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, by Avi

The Misadventures of Maude March, byAudrey Couloumbis

I confess, I haven't read Maude March yet -- but my daughter says it's a must-read. It's a Wild West story about two orphan girls who become outlaws. Sounds great, huh?

I read all of the Judy Blume books at that age; my favorites were "Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret" and "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing."

I suppose I might be dated, but I say they're much more age-appropriate than Twilight! That might be the mom in me speaking though!

It depends what your reading level is. If you're advanced enough, read the Inkheart trilogy, and the Septimus Heap series. I read a lot of adult fiction my self, and classics, but you probably wouldn't get them, my apologies if you can and I'm mistaken. I heard the Clique series is good, but they're not my thing, rather shallow books.

i read them and still am the first is still the best to me but they are all good. there not that hard to read.or a good series to read is the series of unfortunate events read them all but do it in order or nothing will make sense i hate when people read series out of order.

If you are interested in reading twilight then i would wait cause it may be too inapropiate. But there is this series called Vampire Kisses and its more elementary so...idk
