Acetylcholine (Ach) causes relaxation of cardiac muscle and contraction of small muscle on blood vessel wall via the corresponding muscarinic receptors on each type of tissues. It hence lower the heart rate. Hence blood pressure will drop albeit blood vessel constriction to a lesser extent. Ach can be used to induce cardiac arrest in different forms of cardiac surgery, this is experimental only.
