Salvation army questions?

For anyone who owns a salvation army and/or shops there could they please answer any of these questions for me.. Thank you.

What sort of goods does the Salvation Army sell? Quality of goods?

When you donate to the Salvation Army do you receive anything in return? If

so, what?

Do the workers get paid or is it voluntary work?

How are the working conditions at the Salvation Army?

Is this a Catholic Organization? If not, what kind of organization is it,

as I know it's church based.

Do you think it's wrong for the wealthy to shop at the Salvation Army?

I have heard about people buying from the S.A. and then re-selling the

merchandise? Any past experience with this? Or your views on it?

Any idea on the donated to bought ratio?

When the economy is poor, is the S.A. slow? Fast?

How do you donate to the S.A.? Can anyone donate?

Can anyone purchase goods from the S.A.?

What was your motivation to start the store?

For anyone who owns a salvation army and/or shops there could they please answer any of these questions for me.. Thank you.

The Salvation Army is a bible-based organization affiliated with no church.

What sort of goods does the Salvation Army sell? Quality of goods?

Mostly clothing. Some hard goods. Only the best quality items are offered for sale. The rest is sold off to junk and scrap dealers.

When you donate to the Salvation Army do you receive anything in return? If

    so, what?

    A receipt for tax purposes.

Do the workers get paid or is it voluntary work?

Paid. The top dog earns 1/10th what the CEO of the Red Cross earns.

How are the working conditions at the Salvation Army?

    A labor of love.

Is this a Catholic Organization? If not, what kind of organization is it,

as I know it's church based.

As above, an independent Christian organization.

Do you think it's wrong for the wealthy to shop at the Salvation Army?

No. What's important to note is that the proceeds of sales go to the organizations programs to help those in need – the poor and for emergency services. About 93% of income goes to programs, 7% to overhead.

I have heard about people buying from the S.A. and then re-selling the

merchandise? Any past experience with this? Or your views on it?

I'm sure it happens. It's still a capitalist society.

Any idea on the donated to bought ratio?

    No.

When the economy is poor, is the S.A. slow? Fast?

Most likely donations drop and purchases rise.

How do you donate to the S.A.? Can anyone donate?

Simply drop off your donated goods at any Salvation Army location.

Can anyone purchase goods from the S.

    Yes.
