What state did the book "The Outsiders" take place in?

i think its oklahoma, but i am not sure...

    The story takes place in the early 1960's in Tulsa, Oklahoma

    Tulsa, Oklahoma.

    S.E. Hinton based the book off of real "greasers" and "socs" from her Oklahoma high school.
