ever的的詞性

It's been a long time since I saw you last, but you still look as beautiful as ever.

請問一下as beautifult as ever.

第一個as是副詞,翻:一樣地。

第二個as連接詞,翻:和。

問題來了。連接詞as怎麼連接了『形容詞beautiful』和『副詞ever』。

as可以連接兩個不同詞性的東西嗎?因為他不是對等連接詞嗎?

謝謝!

Update:

last當副詞,放句尾不是可以翻譯為『上次』嗎?其實這句是一個題目。

而且我看字典上也這樣用。

Update 2:

請問last這樣的用法是比較不道地或是有什麼不佳之處?因為我有點不太懂有什麼差別說。

    as . . . as

Correlative conjunctions (相關連接詞) are pairs of words that are used to link words together. The most important thing to remember when using correlative conjunctions is that the words, phrases, or clauses that are put together must be the same type. That means that nouns must be put together with other nouns, verbs with other verbs, adjectives with other adjectives, and so on.

    <相關連接詞>是由兩個或多個字組成的成對的,在句子中前後相互呼應的<連接詞>,包括<對等相關連接詞>和<從屬相關連接詞>。相關連接詞兩邊的文法關係必須對稱.

    http://esl.lbcc.cc.ca.us/eesllessons/correlative%2...

    For example:

She is as beautiful as ever.

“She is beautiful” 和“she is ever beautiful” 的比較

=> She is as beautiful as she is ever (beautiful)

=> She is as beautiful as (she is) ever

    省略 “she is beautiful” 由於重複

I don't think it's as hot and humid today as it was yesterday

“it’s hot and humid today” 和“it was (hot and humid) yesterday” 的比較

=> I don’t think that it is as hot and humid today as it was (hot and humid) yesterday.

    省略 “hot and humid” 由於重複

The child sang as sweetly as a nightingale (sang). 那孩子歌唱得跟夜鶯一樣甜美

“The child sang sweetly” 和“a nightingale sang sweetly” 的比較

=> The child sang as sweetly as a nightingale

    省略 “sang sweetly” 由於重複

He is as nice as his brother

“He is nice” 和“His brother is nice” 的比較

=> He is as nice as his brother is (nice).

=> He is as nice as his brother (is).

    省略 “is nice” 由於重複

He is as good as he is bad.

“He is good” 和“he is bad” 的比較

This chair is as comfortable as that one.

“This chair is comfortable” 和“that chair is comfortable” 的比較

=> This chair is as comfortable as that chair is (comfortable).

=> This chair is as comfortable as that chair (is).

    省略 “is comfortable” 由於重複

    Is it clear now?

    Hi, Louis

    For your example:

    It comes from:

He works as hard as (he) ever (worked).

= He works as hard as ever.

    2009-04-01 04:51:36 補充:

    Another example:

We're working as hard as (we've) ever (worked) on any project.

= We're working as hard as ever on any project.

Yes, the sentenece should be better written as:

It's been a long time since I last saw you, but you still look as beautiful as ever.

    2009-04-07 22:08:15 補充:

There is nothing wrong with the original sentence. It may create confusion.

The time I last saw you = The time I saw you last.

I prefer placing "last" in front of "saw" to modify the verb "saw".

    2009-04-07 22:15:59 補充:

When placing "last" at the end, we are modifying the entire phrase "The last time I saw you".

    2009-04-07 22:27:09 補充:

Actually, the confusion should not occur because if "last" is used as a verb to mean "to continue in force", the sentence should be rewritten as:

It's been a long time since I saw you lasting this long, but you still look as beautiful as ever.

    2009-04-07 22:27:20 補充:

Here, last is used as a verb. "this long" is an adverbial phrase modifying the verb "last".

It's been a long time since I saw you last, but you still look as beautiful as ever.

我是對題目有意見= last + 時間 (last yaer/ last month / last time...)

    不然可以解讀成:

    好久不見自從我看過你 維持/最後 (除非last + 地點)

as ... as 第一個as是指示副詞,第二個as是連接詞,但對等的不是as ... as中間的那個形容詞或副詞,而是as...as前後的兩個子句。如: He is as tall as I am.(he is和Iam),但口語常講成He is as tall as me.

as ... as ever是一個習用的片語,表示[依舊,如故...]He works as hard as ever.=他勤勉如故。=He works as hard as he did before.

    你好,

    也許看不太出來不過as...as...是比較級的用法。不是連接詞,兩邊不需同詞性,可以用來比較兩者之間的相似性,比如說:

ex. Tom is as tall as John (is). 兩者等高

    或是比較差異,如:

ex. Tom is not as tall as John (is). 後者較高

    除了比較級的用法外,as...as...被用來造了蠻多用動物比喻人類的片語,舉例說明如下:

as busy as a bee (像蜜蜂一樣)超忙

    as strong as a horse/ox (向牛馬一樣)超壯

as quiet as a mouse (像老鼠一樣)超安靜

as poor as a church mouse (像教堂老鼠一樣)超窮

as sly as a fox (像狐狸一樣)超狡猾

    as crazy/mad as a march hare (像三月發情期的野兔一樣)超瘋狂

as blind as a bat (像蝙蝠一樣瞎)不過意思是指超暗,伸手不見五指

    .

    .

    .

    也有不是動物的比喻:

as thin as a rake (像耙子一樣)超瘦

as quick as a flash (像閃電一樣)超快速

    .

    .

    .

    這類的片語不勝枚舉,不過所用的動物或物品都是固定比喻用法,不能任意更換囉。

    以上! ^^
