Scotties do indeed come in a light shade referred to as Wheaton:
Black, wheaten or brindle of any color. Many black and brindle dogs have sprinklings of white or silver hairs in their coats which are normal and not to be penalized. White can be allowed only on the chest and chin and that to a slight extent only.
This breed is fun, but definitely a handful!! While I appreciate the breed, I wouldn't own one. The ones I have been around have been far too feisty for me. This dog is a terrier through and through, and if you are a lover of that group I am sure you will enjoy the company on this dog.

Scotties don't come in white. They may be black, any shade of brindle or wheaten (a wheat/straw/blonde color which ranges from light cream to a deep strawberry blonde). The true white ones are West Highland White Terriers.
darker wheaten coat:

nice view showing the tonal variation of a wheaten coat:
Note with the Westie, that the coat is a pure white (although many I've known are quite dingy). Some big differences are that the Westie tends to have a darker skin under the fur than most Scotties. The Scottie head is much longer in the snout and and the ears are larger. The Scottie also is longer on the back than most Westies. The Westie has a much rounder face. The Westie hair clip show cases this with the chrysanthemum shaped trim. This is seen in the last Westie photo I've shown.
One thing I found when hunting rescue sites was that frequently the Wheaten colored Scotties were listed as Westies. Many people don't realize the Scottie comes in blonde. Many incorrectly label Westies as white Scotties. Both the Westie and Scottie are fiery, feisty terriers. The Westie may be a little more subdued and a slightly better dog around children. Color in a Scottie does not change temperament. I have two black Scotties and adore them. My little girl has a Wheaten mother and grandmother. Her coat has a few blonde hairs and when she is in the sun, it takes on a fiery reddish glow. The Wheaten Scotties are very attractive dogs and photograph much better than the solid black dogs.
Thanks for considering adoption. I hope this is the dog of your dreams and you have many healthy, happy years together.

I have never heard of such a dog. I think you have it confused with a Cairn Terrier or a West Highland Terrier. All 3 breeds are good, hearty dogs. They are very energetic & need training & exercise. I have 3 Cairns & my mom has a Scottish Terrier. If you are looking for a white dog, just remember that they get dirty very easy. Otherwise, they are all very similiar in body shape. The Westie & the Scottie are the bigger of the 3 breeds. Cairn's are normally going to be 1-3 pounds lighter. But there are always exceptions to the rules.Source(s): Cairn Mommy

I assume you mean a "wheaten" color scottie. They are the same as any other color of scottie. There aren't any white scottie as westie is the only one of the 3 short legged related terriers allowed to be white. Ppl often mistakely called wheaten white for some reason? They aren't white but tan colored so I don't know why.Source(s): 30yr grooming & specializes in terriers

Wheaten scotties are AMAZING! They are the same as a black colored scottie- lot's of personality, lot's of energy, very protective of their families. I have an amazing 2 year old black scottish terrier male. Very loyal, very kind. He needs a lot of exercise, though. Please be prepared for at least a 30 minute walk twice a day and lot's of ball playing time! You'd be so lucky to have a scottie!

Scotties are black. Do you mean a West Highland White terrier? They are feisty little furry things that are quite comical and very smart, but can be stubborn.
