Just copy/paste the YouTube URL into the first box.

    Then choose 'mov for mac'.

It will convert the video online and then you download the file onto your desktop.

Open iMovie and clcik File > Import > movies...

Navigate to where the downloaded file is.

Cretae a new event and import.

Or you could download this free, made for mac software:

Share a nice online video downloader and converter with you.

    iSkysoft iTube Stuido for Mac.

It can download online video automatically from all popular websites, such as YouTube, Yahoo, Google Video, Break, Metacafe, MySpace, Gofish, etc, and other video-sharing sites and convert downloaded video to other video/audio format (including MP4 for iMovie).

You need to convert the Youtube file format from .flv (flash video) to the mac iMovie format of .mov.

There are lots of free online converters around.

    This is one:

Just copy and paste the Youtube URL into the first box then choose .mov from the 2nd.

It's a busy site, sometimes slow and sometimes you need to try more than once but it will work.

Download the converted clip onto your computer then you will be able to import it into iMovie.
