should a social worker not investigate within 24 hours is it still an open case? what are your rights with this service?

    There are different levels of investigation.

    If there is a clear and immediate life threatening danger to the person, then they will usually investigate within 24 hours (varies from state to state), if not, then it may take up to a week for an investigator to make it to the home.

    Yes, it's still an open case. They investigate based on priority. If it's low priority it may take weeks.
